ABSTRACT

The subject of this research is to reveal the relationship between participation frequency in social rituals and the intensity of adoption of social values in this study, the following questions were sought: How does participation frequency in social rituals affect the intensity of adoption of social values? In which cathegory does participation in social rituals affect the adoption of social values most? Cognitive, emotioanl or behavioral: Which one? The main hypothesis guiding the research is this: Participation in social rituals is one of the means of adopting social values. Those who participate in social rituals adopt social values more than those who do not participate in rituals. The importance given to social values by those who participate in social rituals, increase from cognitive level to emotional and to behavioral level. The research is a field study conducted by prepared surveys. These two surveys were applied to a total of 506 students in 3 (three) high schools in Atakum district of Samsun province by face to face interview method. In the first of the two surveys, the frequency of students participation in social rituals, and the second, the density of the same student's adoption of social values were tried to be measured. Because of the high number of social values, the Ministry of National Education's ten root-values in the curricula were included in the study. Microsoft Office Excel program was used to analyze data. In order to transform the obtained quantitative values into linguistic-qualitative variables was used "Fuzzy Set Modeling Technic". The findings confirmed the above mentioned hypotheses. Accordingly, participation in social rituals is an important tool in adopting social values. There is a positive correlation between the frequency of attending rituals and the intensity of social value adoption. lf the frequency of participation in social rituals increases, then the level of adoption of values is also increasing . The intensity of adoption varies from the cognitive level to the emotional and to behavioral level. Therefore, participation in social rituals can be considered as one of the effective methods in values education.

ÖZ

Bu araştırmanın konusu, toplumsal ritüellere katılmanın toplumsal değerlerin kazanılma düzeyini (bilişsel, duyuşsal ve davranışsal) nasıl etkilediğini belirlemek, değerlerin kazanılmasına yönelik önerilerde bulunmak ve değerler eğitimi alanına uygulanabilir bir eğitim aracı sunmaktır. Bu araştırmada şu sorulara yanıt aranmıştır: Toplumsal ritüellere katılım, toplumsal değerlerin kazanılma düzeyini etkiler mi? Toplumsal ritüellere katılım, toplumsal değerlerin kazanılmasında en çok hangi düzeyi etkiler: Bilişsel, duyuşsal, davranışsa!? Bu araştırmada şu hipotezler oluşturulmuştur: Toplumsal ritüellere katılım, toplumsal değerleri benimseme araçlarından biridir. Toplumsal ritüellere katılanlar, toplumsal değerleri daha çok kazanır. Toplumsal ritüellere katılan bireylerin toplumsal değerlere verdiği önem bilişsel düzeyden, duyuşsal ve davranışsal düzeye doğru artış gösterir. Araştırma, anket hazırlanarak yapılan bir alan araştırmasıdır. Anketler, Samsun ili Atakum ilçesindeki 3 (üç) lisede öğrenim gören 506 öğrenciye uygulanmıştır. Aynı sayfada yer alan 2 ayrı anket hazırlanmış; anketlerden biri ile öğrencilerin toplumsal ritüellere katılım düzeyi, diğeri ise o ritüelle ilişkili toplumsal değerleri kazanım düzeyi ölçülmeye çalışılmıştır. Toplumsal değerler sayıca fazla olduklarından sınırlandırma yaparken MEB'in öğretim programlarında belirtilen 10 kök değer referans alınmıştır. Verilerin analizinde Microsoft Office Excel programı kullanılmış; elde edilen nicel değerlerin niteliksel değerlere dönüştürülmesinde "Bulanık Küme Modelleme" tekniğine başvurulmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda hipotezlerin doğrulandığı görülmüştür. Buna göre toplumsal ritüellere katılım, toplumsal değerlerin benimsenmesinde önemli bir araçtır; katılım ile benimseme düzeyi arasında pozitif korelasyon vardır. Toplumsal ritüellere katılımın artması ile toplumsal değerlerin kazanılma düzeyi, bilişsel düzeyden, duyuşsal ve davranışsal düzeye doğru değişim göstermektedir. Bu bağlamda toplumsal ritüellere katılım, değerler eğitiminde kullanılacak etkin yöntemlerden biri olarak kabul edilebilir.
